Join us at the Laila Textiles Studio to get a taste of the magic that glass brings to preserving memories and dispersing light. In this 3 hour workshop led by artist Kellie Ann Krouse of Soldered Curves, you'll explore the concepts of composition with fabric and light, while observing basic stained glass soldering techniques.

Workshop will cover:

• Pressing fabric and other various items between two layers of glass 

• Basic concepts of creating visual compositions, accounting for transparency and opacity 

• How copper foil is used within the copper foil technique of stained glass

• A demonstration of stained glass soldering 

• Each student will create and leave with a one-of-a kind suncatcher containing pressed fabric as well as a dangling gem for light refraction. Each piece will be a 6”x6” square composed of 4 individual 3”x3” squares. Students are encouraged to bring their own flat composition components including pressed flowers, smalls clips of text, etc. Demonstrations will cover discussions of what can be included in the compositions. 
  

Note: students will not be soldering their own pieces, this will be done by the instructor with lead free solder. During this time you will be served light refreshments to enjoy.
